Global Pandemic Leads to Increase in Dilapidation Work

The last 18 months has been an incredibly difficult period, with the global pandemic having a huge impact on how companies were able to run their businesses. This has also led to a shift going forward with more people working remotely, rather than from an office, and an increase in online retailing and banking.

In turn this has seen a reduction in the need for as many bricks and mortar premises, resulting in the closure of many offices, shops and banks.

As various high street retailers and commercial offices go through a programme of consolidating their property portfolio, ensuring the required strip out, relocation or dilapidation work is handled as sensitively and smoothly as possible is a priority that Link PPS take very seriously.

Link PPS Sales Manager Simon True said: “It’s important that we handle closure and dilapidation services as sensitively as possible and often we are entrusted as a main contractor to coordinate all aspects of the project, from being key holders to providing a detailed handover including recording final meter readings and a full photographic record of the premises. We provide a complete service, providing surveys, itineraries and condition reports, to complete strip out and sign off.”

Other elements handled by our team include:

  • De-branding and de-merchandising premises such as signage removals, window display removal, boarding / securing windows and doors at the time of closure across to multiple sites.
  • Co-ordinating and managing incumbent suppliers.
  • Storage or relocation of IT, equipment and furniture.
  • Detailed handover and handback procedure which ensures the client is confident all keys and records are shared and returned on completion, along with itineraries and records such as meter readings and photographs.
